Folate (Quatrefolic®)
Also known as vitamin B9, folic acid is one of the most talked about vitamins when pregnant. But it's not just important during that time, it's a vitally important vitamins for supporting the health of women throughout.
However, not all vitamins are created equal and many people are unable to convert regular Folic Acid supplements into its biologically active form.
This is where our Her.9 DuoCap stands head and shoulders above the supplements you can get off the shelf.
Folic Acid is a synthetic manmade version of Folate and is structurally and functionally different from Folates that exist naturally in food, and humans don’t process Folic Acid very well.
Folic Acid is more heat stable than the active Folate vitamin and costs much less, and is therefore the generally preferred form for production, sales and therapeutic use.
Quatrefolic® is a fourth-generation folate used in our DuoCaps that solves this issue by providing longer-lasting stability, improved bioavailability and the highest level of safety.
Studies on Folate have shown it can reduce the severity, duration, and frequency of hot flashes during menopause and well as it's contribution to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy and, most importantly, helps to prevent neural tube defects in the developing baby. The two most common types of neural tube defects are anencephaly and spina bifida.
In addition to pregnant women, the NHS actually recommends that all women of child-bearing age should take a daily folic acid supplement.
The beneficial effect of folic acid is obtained with a daily intake of 400µg (the exact amount contained in Her9).
